Point the camera in the app at any real cat you meet, whether it's a stray, a porch cat, or the bodega cat, and snap a photo. That cat is yours, pinned to the spot where you found it. Cats can only come from the in-app camera, not your photo gallery, which keeps fake cats out.

Yes. Catch your cat, name it, and share it for friends to collect. If you tag it at home, keep in mind that its approximate location shows on the map, and always ask the owner before posting someone else's indoor cat.

Yes. The Cat Map and the New Cat Feed show cats being caught all over the world, from the bodega cats of New York to the street cats of Indonesia, and you can add any of them to your collection.

Tap Collect on a cat in the feed or on the map, or tap the link when a friend shares one, and it joins your collection. Collecting someone else's cat costs a gem. Catching your own never does.

Gems let you unlock new backgrounds and interact with cats in the Cat Feed. You earn Gems by claiming your free daily Gem, playing the Top Cat game, or when your cat is crowned Top Cat of the day. You spend Gems collecting cats in the feed or unlocking accessories.

Yes. Catching cats is always free, and there are no ads. Collecting cats other people caught uses gems, which you earn every day for free, and Cat Collector Plus is an optional subscription for a few extras.

Cat Collector is free and available to anyone with a recent iPhone or Android device. Passionate cat collectors can subscribe to Cat Collector Plus for special perks: a 3-gems-a-day allowance, flair for your display picture, and the ability to add 2 pictures of a cat to a single post.

We don't sell your data, and location is optional. If you do share it, the exact spot where you caught a cat is shown only to you. Everyone else sees that cat placed several hundred meters away from the true spot.

Yes. Precise cat locations are never revealed publicly in the app. Only the person who caught a cat sees its exact spot, and everyone else sees it several hundred meters away, so a pin can land a street or two over. You can also use the app and catch cats without turning location on at all, and we're planning more granular privacy controls for future versions.

The detector looks for the shape of a cat, so get the whole cat in the frame, in good light. Low light and cats wearing clothes are the hardest cases. If it keeps happening, update to the latest version, and email us a screenshot so we can test it.

When you catch a cat, Cat Collector lets you give it a name or pick one of the suggested cats caught nearby, which adds your catch to that cat. If a match goes wrong, or you'd like your cat removed from the app, please email support@catcollector.app.

Purchases are billed by Apple or Google, not by us, so refunds go through them: on iPhone at reportaproblem.apple.com, on Android from your order history in Google Play. You can cancel Plus in the same place.
