How it works

Catch cats with a picture
See a cat out in the world, point your camera, and snap it.

Build your cat collection
Every catch becomes a collectible sticker — the ones you caught and the ones friends sent you, all in one place.

See your personal map
Every cat pins to the exact spot you found it, building a private map of your finds.

Neighborhood leaderboards
See which cats are the most collected block by block, and climb the ranks around you.

Use them as stickers in iMessage
Every cat you catch drops into your iMessage sticker drawer, ready to send to the group chat.

Share your cats
Post any cat to your Instagram story — anyone who taps it can collect your sticker for their own collection, and you get the credit.

Common questions
What is Cat Collector?
You photograph real cats you meet out in the world, and each one joins your collection. You can also collect cats other people have caught. If you know Pokémon GO, here's how Cat Collector compares.
How do I catch a cat?
Point your camera at any real cat you meet, whether it's a stray, a porch cat, or the bodega cat, and snap a photo. That cat is yours, pinned to the spot where you found it.
Are these real cats or AI?
Real cats, every time. Each one is a photo a real person took of a cat they actually met. If Neko Atsume is your thing, these are cat games where the cats are real.
Do the cats have to be mine?
Nope. Strays, porch cats, a friend's cat, the bodega cat. If you see it, you can catch it.
Can I post my own cat?
Yes. Start with the cat on your own couch: catch it, name it, and share it for friends to collect. Your cat competes for Top Cat in your neighborhood like any other.
Can I discover cats from other places?
Yes. The Cat Map and the New Cat Feed show cats being caught all over the world, from the bodega cats of New York to the street cats of Indonesia, and you can add any of them to your collection.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free to download and free to play, with no paywall to start catching and no ads.
Do I need an account?
Just pick a username and go. No email, no password.
How do I collect someone else's cat?
When a friend shares a cat, tap the link. It opens in the app and adds that cat to your collection. You can also collect cats straight from your neighborhood leaderboards.
Can I use the cats as stickers?
Yes. Every cat you catch drops into your iMessage sticker drawer, ready to send to friends in any chat.
Is my location private?
You see the exact spot only for the cats you caught yourself, and that precise location is never shared with anyone. For cats you collect from other people, you only ever see the neighborhood, never their exact spot.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Cat Collector is available on iPhone and iPad, but not Android. Let us know on Instagram or TikTok if you'd like an Android version. Coming from CatchCat on Android? Here's the iPhone story.
